Cybersecurity Coaching

I’ve been getting a lot of requests lately to help people out on their path towards becoming a cybersecurity expert. When potential customers call – it makes sense to provide a service that people are asking for directly. As such, I’m going to start a cybersecurity coaching business.

Filling the Need – Cybersecurity Coaching

This site – becomeacybersecurity.expert – will hopefully be a part of filling that need . With this site, the coaching business, and my upcoming book (get chapter two free here), I’m hoping that I can provide quality mentorship at a fair price. The field of cybersecurity is one of the hottest fields in the industry, with Gartner and others predicting a shortage of up to a million cybersecurity experts in the next few years, to say nothing of that point forward. Additionally, the cybersecurity field is ideally less diverse than it should be. I consider being any part of changing that – even a small part – a worthy goal.

My Mentors

My father was my first mentor. He kindled my love of computers originally. I took computer classes in high school, then got a degree in college, and started working with computers. When I started learning about cybersecurity, though I was interested, it was somewhat happenstance, thanks to the Melissa virus. (You can read more about that episode in my life in my first book, Adventures in Cybersecurity.) My boss at the time, Bradley, was my first professional mentor, and when he left for a new firm I followed. I mentored a colleague at that job, and he later became my boss and a great friend. I’ve had successive mentors at each step of the way, and I’ve always been very lucky in that respect. I hope that my new business will provide a similar mentorship to those that need it.
